With Corás Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) rolling out a series of freight stock throughout the 1950s-1960s based on a standardised triangulated underframe developed by its then-Chief Mechanical Engineer, Oliver Bulleid, attention turned to transportation requirements for the company’s own diesel fuel oil supplies. A total of 21 tank wagons were constructed at Inchicore during 1956 to augment and replace older types then in use. These tankers, with an 11-ton capacity, were a common sight throughout the network, conveying diesel from the importation point at Dublin Port to locomotive depots of all sizes, as well as occupying sidings at stations to supply CIE’s fleet of road vehicles in those localities.

Needed for every layout!

Fantastic set of beautifully detailed wagons, perfect for every layout whether your actively running oil trains, sitting by a refuelling depot or as dead wagons on a scrap siding.

Great little tanks

The detail is fantastic and they make a very useful addition to my Irish wagon fleet.

CIE diesel fuel tank wagon

Excellent, could well be "Model of the Year". Pity it will have to compete against other Irish railway Models this year.

CIE Diesel Fuel Oil Tank Wagon

Excellent model, shame in such limited numbers as I'm sure many are disappointed.

Diesel Tanks review

Wagons are nicely finished and have some nice weight to them and additional items packed securely. I do wonder though why two wagons are stencilled with product description and 3rd wagon left blank, this does seem as if a mistake was made.

Oil tank wagons

Absolutely excellent looking models that capture the real thing in miniature.
