Seen as very much the ‘missing link’ in the ‘Powering Britain’ range, the 16 ton mineral wagon is an essential addition to the Accurascale range to tell the story of coal traffic on the railways throughout the 20th century. The archetypal BR 16 ton all-steel non-hoppered mineral wagon proliferated across the United Kingdom’s railway network during the 1950s and 1960s and there was probably not a siding, freight yard or industrial railway system in the country that did not house at least an example or three of these vitally important, yet mundane railway vehicles.
  • Model Specification:
  • Die-cast metal chassis with plastic body. Weight of 37g (excluding coal load).
  • Scale length of 78mm over buffers, and 34.53mm wide.
  • Wheelbase of 36mm, allowing operation over a minimum radius of 371mm (1st radius set-track).
  • Separately fitted side doors, top doors and end doors.
  • Metal 3-hole wheels; chemically blackened 00 Gauge RP25-110 standard, set in blackened brass bearings and conforming to Accurascale standards of 14.4mm back-to-back, on 2mm axles over 26mm pinpoints.
  • Eroded metal, plastic and wire detail parts, including handrails, grab handles, side-door handles, lamp brackets, brake gear, draw gear, 3-link and Instanter couplings.
  • Turned metal sprung buffers.

ICI Mond Pack Q

A mix of the earlier green-grey and a blue grey soda ash wagons. All three with single side brake blocks, and side doors removed. Superb attention to detail from Accurascale with the subtle differences between individual wagons. I hope they decide to release a few more like these

Amazing little wagons

As someone who lives in the same hometown that these were used even though it was the very tail end of ICI in the uk , it was a no brainer … and boy was I right in getting both sets of these

Now to await the internal lostock works hopper wagons (that funnily enough isn’t far from the mond division)

Awesome

I would highly recommend thise thay are great

Was little disappointed that the 21t I got didn't come with as much as the 16ts maybe there's something I don't know

But with the 16s I got two types of chain links and two sets of couplings along with the separate bar that very easily drops in to the top of the wagon

That was the obvious and easy bit

That brings me on to the instructions or the lack of whilst only a simple wagon to a degree there are two sets of couplings a shot and a long set

The the longer set the are thies little spacers that u need to slide onto the part that goes in the nem pocket or thay don't seat right

This took me a bit of head scratching as there was nothing that I could see that explained thats what was need

Accurascale if your reading this pleas let me know would love to know if in the next run you would consider a little postit note to say what needs to be done

Nothing POO about these wagons: Pack Q.

These are lovely variants of the 16T Mineral rolling stock with tarpaulin covers. The detailing is marvellous and the build quality is excellent in these triple packs. One thing I would have liked was the tarpaulin covers to have been made from flexible sheeting to mimic the covers than the hard plastic facsimiles. I pointed this option out with the Steel Coil Wagons after there release. Other than that these are beautifully designed models.
