Deltic D 9000 : An elusive 'Presence'

The long wait for the arrival of this Deltic locomotive is at last over. Unboxing the engine took some time as it was very carefully packaged to ensure maximum protection from the inevitable knocks and bangs experienced on its long journey.
What struck me when the protection had been removed and the locomotive placed on the track was that sense of 'presence'. The detail of the real engine has been faithfully reproduced. The slightly raked nose and an astonishing level of roof detail plus faithful reproduction of the body shape are all there to see. You really get the impression that the twin Napier engines lurk behind the body and roof panels ready to burst into life.
However, the detail aside what is really striking is the models ability to run smoothly and responsively. The DCC system I use is the NCE Power Cab which
I have found to be excellent on my end to end layout. I think this second series of Deltics from Accurascale represents a significant improvement on their first importation. Having now been run for a number of hours the various functions all seem to work flawlessly and I have experienced no instances of poor operation or body detail being left at the trackside.
Yes, it is a quite expensive model but the quality of the product is indisputable.

Super Deltic!

Really happy with this one. Was very excited when it was announced and it looks the part in Virgin Cross Country and Charter Rakes. Looks the part and certainly sounds fantastic!

D9000 Royal Scots Grey

I ordered D9000 no soonerthan it was announced. The livery is very good together with the wealth of detail looks very much as the prototype. It runs well and the sound profile is very realistic Another winner from accurascale.

Deltic Delight

Wonderful model of Royal Scots Grey.

Perhaps the BR Green could have been a bit more saturated and glossy as per the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in the NRM and indeed RSG in real life.

I was also a little surprised that the solution to the problem of the handbrake chains on the bogies was to put them in the accessory bag! - but that suits me.

Deltic second run

After waiting a very long time my model finally arrived. The detail is superb and the sound very reminiscent of when I worked on them many many years ago.

BrR Class 55

This loco is without any doubt the smoothest quietest locomotive i have ever owned or heard. Amazing build quality and features. Top marks Accurascale.
