The arrival of 66001 on to British soil at 08:53 on the 18th of Aprill 1998 heralded a new dawn for British rail freight, the first of several hundred locomotives of a type that would revolutionise Railfreight across the UK (and Europe). There were a few subtle differences between the first two and the rest of the production batch which have never been replicated before on a model. Firstly the lashing eyes to secure the locomotive to the ship were in a different position to later models. The horn grille was also mounted almost flush with the body. Visually 66001 looked more striking owing to its red grilles which were later changed to black.
Our Class 66 model is based on the award winning ‘accura-standard’ platform, with all-wheel powered six-axle bogies, a powerful twin flywheel fitted motor and market leading electronics package.
Lighting and DCC Specifics
Can’t speak highly enough of this Accurascale 66, sounds so real, mind blowing!!
Having 8ohm speaker, have two to upgrade to sound, but only ordered 4ohm speakers. Other people mention sound volume might need adjustment with cvs.
This is my 5th Accurascale class 66 and each has been perfect! No loose or missing parts. No glue where it shouldn’t be. All perfect performers with power to spare. Cannot ask for more. Looking forward to their next release announcements. A Jubilee would be nice!!!!
Hi there.only my third direct purchase from yourselves with 1st class service each time, However this delivery had the big box with lots of bubble stuffbut loco seems to have sunk to bottom,so brownie points to handling and shipping as no damage. As my rolling stock is quite limited have found loco likes to derail stock that does not have kinematic type couplings. Have seen suggestions to widen slot in valance...are spare valances likely to become available as there will be high chance of me needing a replacement . Obviously these are my failing s with stock and dexterity issues. So top marks to you all and apologies if I have rambled on a bit ........many thanks,Andrew
Recently received together with 66779. Both locomotives look exceptional in detail. No chance to run yet as going on holiday!
Well where do I start. From delivery to running, I wasn't disappointed. Well packed in Accurascales very own protective sleeves.
The limited edition box is well presented and then the beautiful machine inside. DCC sound and it drives lovely out of the box. Sound coordination with moment of locomotive is lovely. The detail is amazing. Just what you expect from Accurascale at an amazing price. Keep them coming. Looking forward to some more liveries. 😀

What is there to say? My nineth accurascale loco and as usual a first class product in every way. Cannot find even the smallest thing to grumble about.
Excellent Model of the Class 66, the model has been improved a lot over the Hattons version and the modifications really make this the best OO Gauge model of a 66 by far. Highly recommended.

I thought my Accurascale Freightliner Class 66 was amazing and still do but the special artwork on the EWS 66001 box makes you want to just dive inside. You are going to read a pile of 5 Star Reviews but here's a few of my personal observations. It needs to be run-in for around an hour before it reaches smooth acceleration. With the naked eye, the paintwork is at a very high and very satisfactory level with only a couple of extremely minor blemishes visible while editing images on my 27" Monitor! Sound could be a little deeper in the low frequencies but still very good - see my video which has the start-up sequence. The Stay-Alive is amazing and I timed it around 10 seconds. Wow!
Yet again Accurascale have produced an absolutely outstanding model. I can’t find anything to fault. With a crew added 66001 is a stunner that sounds the part. Worth every penny!
