Class 55 'Deltic' - BR Blue w/Silver - 55013 - The Black Watch

Complementing 55022 from the first run is York’s 55013 in its similar special livery with silver fuel tanks, grey roof, red bufferbeams and white-painted extras, which it retained until its withdrawal in October 1981. It was repainted for the 1980 Rainhill Event, but was replaced on the bill by Tulyar.

Accurascale Class 55, The Black Watch.

I pre ordered the DCC ready version earlier this year and has now arrived. This is a fantastic model with great detail and very heavy. The lighting function are very good and overall I am very pleased with this model. I purchased the custom ESU decoder from Accurascale about six months ago, and had not been out off the box until I received the model. Fitting the decoder was easy, and that is when problems occurred. The train would not work at all, and the driver cab in the Loksound programmer would not work either. To cut a long story short, I had to reset the decoder and firmware to default condition and load a 3rd party sound profile to get it going. Once this had been done, everything worked perfectly. Maybe I was just unlucky with my decoder, and my problems should not detract from buying this fantastic model.

Incredible detail marred by performance

The accurascale Deltic offers an incredibly detailed model of a much loved locomotive, at a price that’s more than fair.

The straight-line performance of the motor is as good as the 66s before, offering a powerful and quiet operation.

However, the model is almost over-detailed, with the bogeys fouling on the body sides and underneath detail on 2nd and 3rd radius curves, causing derailments at literally every turn.

A good display loco, but maybe not the most practical of runners for the average hobbyist or depot modellers.

55013.

Been a while waiting for this beauty. She doesn't disappoint, from the wheels up accurascale have nailed the powerful look of the class 55. Truly astounding.
